OPENING SPEECH by COUSTICKS
As an artiste with over 30 years' experience in the arts, I have had a tremendous opportunity to work with children; seeing them come out of their 'shells' and evolve into greatness has been my greatest joy.
The dream of having a musical charity concert began years ago, as I watched on TV towns, cities, and nations affected by disease and natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, fires, landslides, and famine. Countries experiencing war and conflict, where children and their parents are displaced from their homes, having no comfort or happiness. These have further strengthened my concerns to raise awareness and raise funds for the British Red Cross Society.
"In Times Like This" is a musical charity concert celebrating cultures and diversity by bringing together some of the children I have taught in the past and at present, with abilities such as playing the keyboard, drums, percussion, and singing, to give back to the community.
The concert is also believed to help children and young people express themselves, develop their skills, knowledge, and understanding of music, and build confidence in their musical choices, making an impact in the lives of others who are less privileged.
By hosting this event, we aim to support the local community while contributing to the noble work of the British Red Cross Society as they extend support to those in crisis. The funds raised from the day's proceeds will help the British Red Cross Society reach out and support those in need worldwide.
This concert also brings together people from different parts of the United Kingdom, both far and near, in Milton Keynes, a metropolitan melting pot of culture, improving cohesion and appreciation among people of different cultures, races, and colours. Sit back and enjoy every moment.
